PLR versus MRR

by Wendy Wood

Internet marketers are always on the lookout for quick ways to pass on information to their niche market. After all, the internet is a marketplace for information. A great way to do this can be to purchase PLR (private label rights) or MRR (master resale rights). Firstly, however, it’s important to know the difference between these two types of licensed content so you can decide which is best for you.

You need to make that choice, and make it based on what you’re going to need your content for. If you wish to sell a product, then chances are you’ll wish to get the master resell rights, as they will be adequate for your purposes.

MRR though, will normally not give you the option to alter the content. If you wish to make changes that personalize the content to your business or even add your own links, then you would definitely want to go with PLR content.

You’ll also find that there is a huge difference in the delivery of the files. PLR is usually a .doc which allows for maximum customization, and you can even combine multiple PLR’s to make an eBook that you can sell to your customers.

Master Resell Rights content however may permit you to put your name down as the author of the content, but that’s about all you can get as far as modification goes. The use and reselling of the content is extremely limited. The license will have more details on this, but if your intent is to resell you probably won’t like what it says.

When making the decision to use PLR or MRR, you need to have a look at what you plan to use it for in the first place. If you wish to do some viral marketing to direct traffic to your own site, then it would be best to use PLR, since MRR is so tight as far as what it can be used for.

There might be some cases where the MRR content license is a little more loose, and if that is the case then you can feel free to use it in any way that you want.

Nevertheless, if you want the most choice in how you can use your content, go with PLR. Another good reason to choose PLR is that it is usually cheaper than MRR. Private Label Rights products offer a quick and easy way to get content for eBooks, articles, websites etc. Even though another person did the work, you get to say it’s yours and use it as you will. That’s a pretty great deal!
