There are other things to consider when looking at a medical assistants job. For instance, are there benefits offered by the employer? Even though a private practice doctor may pay you less salary, chances are you will be working fewer hours.
Health care benefits as well as paid timeoff should also be considered. Some companies may only offer the bare minimum in health care, but have a higher salary Depending on your health careneeds, it may actually save you money if you take the lesser salary with better health care benefits.
It is also true that specialty care doctors pay their medical assistants more money than primary care doctors. However, it would seem that specialty care doctors are more expensive because of their specific expertise. It costs the patients and insurance companies more money to be seen there, so medical assistants and all other staff are paid more.
