Leather Office Chairs In The Workplace
Posted at Dec 1st, 2009 in Business
When walking into an office for the first time, or the hundredth time, an office outfitted with a leather office chair makes an impression. There are many different office chairs on the market and in use in offices.
If the person is lower in the company, their chair will be less expensive and exotic looking. Mid level workers will have decently luxurious manager’s chairs to work with. Ergonomic chairs are the furniture du jour for specialists. What do the top execs use? Leather office chairs, of course.
Leather office chairs have been the status symbol for executives for the past several decades. However, now that leather is so much easier to make and more expedient to get, it’s much cheaper to get a leather office chair. You can even find leather office chairs on sale in your local newspaper, if you find the right Sunday specials.
So if you have long desired to have a leather office chair but did not think it was in the budge, you may want to take another look. Of course, the price you ultimately pay will depend largely on brand name, as well as the type of leather that is used.
The major brands known for high quality are Hon, Mayline and Boss, and these will cost more than the others. This is partially because of the brand name but also partially because they are a higher quality. When considering one of these brand name chairs, take the time to read one of the many reviews available about the chairs. It’s also a good idea to review the warranties and guarantees that come with the chairs.
There is a tremendous selection available which varies by color, shine, texture and grade of leather. Browse through a few catalogs to get an idea. No matter whether you are searching for a matte-finish suede or leather you can see your reflection in, or what color, you will find a style to please you.
The most affordable leather chairs will have bonded and bycast leather in them. The benefit of these is that the price will be substantially lower than the others. Bonded leather is less expensive because it is made from reconstituted leather fibers. Bycast leather is made of split leather that has been chemically treated, sealed and pressed so that is will look natural, and it will be easy to keep clean, but the disadvantage of bycast leather is that it will not be as soft as traditional leather.
