Introducing NLP: The Magic of Trust

by Shermon Gillett

Sherlyn Allen, a consulting engineer, was waiting patiently at the reception of a prospect. Her client, Chris Scout, was a business magnate with several business interests. He was getting late for an important business meeting so he called Sherlyn in his room. Chris arms were crossed – he was obviously not in a mood to see Sherlyn, leave alone buying from her. Sherlyn, I cant see you this morning. Chris said, trying to brush Sherlyn off.

Crossing his own arms, John asked his client, Would you like to postpone this? James toned down a bit. How long will your presentation take? he asked. John smiled, About ten minutes. Ten minutes later, however, John emerged from the clients office, having closed the deal.

What did John Smith say or do in those short but crucial ten minutes to convince his client to buy his services? What was it about the way John reacted to his client that got him ten minutes of the mans time in first place?

NLP, neuro linguistic programming, is the secret of John Smiths’ success. This is a field of psychology that observes the different ways people think and communicate with one another.

Richard Bandler and John Grinder, the founders of NLP, studied the working methods of therapists who were very successful with their clients. Although all of them worked differently, they had one thing in common: They were very good at gaining their clients trust.

Why and how trust develops is summed up by NLP. All people have different ideas of reality. If they are heard and understood, they feel appreciated. As a consequence they are extremely likely to trust people who understands them.

NLP is easy to apply to sales situations. After all, what is sales but making money through communication? Do million-dollar sales producers communicate trust to their clients in some magical, unconscious way?

It seems super sellers do something magical: they get their clients to buy without using any maneuvers. Now you know how Frank Kern is able to generate sales worth millions of dollars in hours.

The magic of trust will start winning you customers when you start applying the principles of NLP in your sales pitch. You would know your clients real mental barriers and how to go past them.

NLP teaches you three things:

* You will discover more about your potential clients in five minutes than you previously could in a month.

* You are going to learn to predict how your clients will purchase.

* You will know how to let your clients sell to themselves.

NLP teaches an entirely new system of selling based on trust. You will become a detective of human behavior. You will learn that people have different modes of thinking and how those modes affect their decisions to buy.

You will learn specific selling techniques that you can apply in all situations. You will learn to communicate and reinforce trust with your clients on deeper levels. Using both verbal and physical techniques, you will be able to guide your clients to make decisions they otherwise might be afraid to make.

If you use NLP techniques, understand specific buying patterns and rules of sales psychology, you will be able to double your sales within a year. It is a magic anyone who sells must appreciate and master.
