Cellular Phones Transmit Wireless Network Information
Posted at Jul 2nd, 2009 in Business
Many people today utilize a wireless network in some shape or form during their day. Whether it be using a network to talk on a cellular phone, send an email from a smart phone or access the Internet through a wireless laptop computer, wireless network information is being sent and received all the time.
One of the ways this has been achieved is by allowing people to transmit wireless network information through their laptop computers. The type of wireless network that is used in most businesses is known as WLAN, or wireless local area network.
The wireless network that is going to help with this problem is call WiMax. With this system, wireless network information can be sent in received in a slightly different manner than the WLAN that are described above.
This small receiver then enables the computer to use the same wireless network that the phones use to surf the Internet, conduct meetings and any other task that would need to be completed. The nice thing about this type of service is that a wireless connection to the Internet is available to the user anywhere that the small wireless card will receive a signal.
There are many uses for these wireless networks in the work place. People can access email and business information from any Wi-Fi area. This give employees the freedom to not be confined to just an office for their work. This also allows employees to stay connected with their business when they are traveling.
The two main types of cellular wireless networks are referred to as GSM or PCS. Sprint was the first company to use the PCS network which stands for personal communications service. Other providers like AT&T use the GSM type of network which stands for global system for mobile communication. These companies, along with others are constantly competing to have the fastest, most reliable wireless networks.
WiMax is the type of technology that can bring “last mile” connectivity to areas that previously had none. This type of wireless network information has been used already in disaster areas. The Indian Ocean Tsunami left the entire area without any lines of communication. WiMax was set up and this allowed communication to resume with other areas. The same thing happened after Hurricane Katrina.
The bluetooth headset has a small wireless radio that communicates with the phone in order to give the user the ability to speak hands free. This has made driving while talking on the phone much safer than it was before.
